The Story Behind The Loyal Pearl Fountain of Love

Before Murun Pearls became a boutique in Bali, it was the story of two people from completely different worlds whose lives kept leading back to each other. This is a journey of patience, pressure, sacrifice, and a love that survived against all odds.
A Twist of Fate, The story began with a single, sudden decision in January 2019. After graduating with her Master’s degree in Taiwan, Enkhmurun received a train ticket from her Indonesian roommate to travel the island before returning home to Mongolia.
During her journey, she was supposed to stay overnight in a certain city. But something felt off. Trusting her instinct, she changed her plans last minute, checked into a small guest house elsewhere, and met a group of artists. They invited her to a small music night in Taipei that was happening three days later. Since Murun was traveling around, the timing matched her schedule perfectly.
It was through a friend she connected with for this music event that Murun unexpectedly met one of Jafarudin’s older sisters. They became fast friends naturally, and his sister told her: “One day, I will invite you to my hometown in Indonesia.” Years passed, life got busy, and the two friends even stopped talking for nearly a year. But the universe wasn't finished. After nearly four years, the invitation finally came again. This time, Murun accepted.

Worlds Apart, Drawn Together, Murun traveled to Bali and then to Batu, Malang—the small, traditional village of Jafarudin’s family. Jafarudin was asked by his sister to help with Murun's transportation. At the time, his English was very limited, but he sat beside her, showing her around his hometown with quiet sincerity and kindness.
Interestingly, at that exact moment, both of them actually had feelings for other people. Yet, they stayed in touch.
Soon after, Murun faced the hardest battle of her life: major surgery after suffering from severe endometriosis for 17 years. Throughout her painful recovery, Jafarudin remained a steadfast pillar of support. He listened, encouraged her, and began studying English intensely so he could truly understand her world.
After recovering from her surgery, Murun traveled across the United States. When she returned to Taiwan for a week-long stay, Jafarudin—who was already there pursuing his own studies—went to pick her up personally. Somewhere between the distance, the sacrifice, and the quiet years of friendship, they realized their feelings had grown into love.

A Forbidden & Secret Love, By mid-2024, they officially started dating—but it was a forbidden, secret love. They came from different religions, cultures, countries, and generations. Murun was twelve years older and unable to have children due to her medical condition. Adding to the challenge was a frustrating societal double standard they still fight to this day. Jafarudin is 25 years old, but he is blessed with a very youthful, boyish face. While the world easily accepts couples where the man is much older, Murun and Jafarudin constantly had to brave the judgment and misconceptions of strangers.
As the youngest son in a deeply religious family, Jafarudin sought permission to marry her. The answer was a harsh rejection. Again and again. Believing love couldn't overcome reality, they tried to part ways multiple times. Yet, every attempt to walk away only brought them closer. In a moment of sheer bravery, Jafarudin made the painful decision to temporarily run away from everything to defend their love, even traveling to Mongolia to meet Murun’s family. But family obligations eventually called him home, leading to nearly a year and a half of painful separation, secret rendezvous, tears, and uncertainty. Many times, it felt completely impossible.
Written in the Stars, Through those heavy, hidden years, Bali became their secret sanctuary—a place to temporarily escape the pressure and just be together in peace.
As they traveled through the Philippines and Indonesia, they fell in love with South Sea and golden pearls. They learned that an exceptional South Sea pearl can take up to five years to form under the ocean. That realization struck a chord deep in their hearts: true love, like a pearl, takes time. It was during these trials that they discovered stunning coincidences that proved their lives were quietly connected long before they ever met:
The Siblings: Jafarudin was the youngest among six older sisters. Murun was the youngest and only daughter among six older brothers.
The Names: "Enkhmurun" carries meanings connected to peace and flowing water. "Jafarudin" also translates to rivers and flowing water.
This is how the brand Murun Pearls got its name. It represents a flowing river—an unstoppable force that crashes over the strongest rocks, overcomes the fiercest storms, and yet, gracefully continues to flow forward.
Holding Strong Through the Fire, In March 2025, they took a massive leap of faith and prepared to open their very first store in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia. However, the family opposition reached a breaking point, and Jafarudin was banned by his family from traveling to Mongolia. Heartbroken but undefeated, Murun pushed forward and opened the store alone, while Jafarudin stayed in the background, offering his fierce, unwavering support. They refused to let their dream die. Their resilience finally began to soften the walls. By July 2025, Murun was finally able to face the storm honestly, traveling to meet Jafarudin’s family. Having confronted both sides with absolute sincerity, they finally received partial approval. Just a month later, in August 2025, they happily got married.
They shared a small, intimate ceremony in Bali, followed by a larger celebration in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia. On April 4th, 2026, Murun Pearls Bali proudly opened its doors—the newest chapter of that very same love story.

Today, Murun Pearls is more than a jewelry brand. It is the child they could not have. It is a living symbol of endurance, sacrifice, and a loyalty that survived the storm.
The Meaning of The Loyal Pearl Fountain. Pearls are often misunderstood. Many people think a pearl is just a simple, normal gemstone, or assume it is common. But as GIA-trained pearl specialists, we see them differently. The pearl is the only living gem in the world. Pearls do not shout to prove they exist. They do not demand attention. Instead, they grow quietly inside a living heart, transforming pain and irritation into something treasured. They simply shine their light and love in complete tranquility. Like pearls, we survived hardship, separation, rejection, and societal judgment. Yet through those struggles, something deeply meaningful was slowly created. We built The Loyal Pearl Fountain as a landmark for Canggu, and as a monument of hope, love, and destiny.
Our Belief: Through our journey, we learned the greatest lesson of all—that true love is always worth fighting for, despite the heaviest odds, social judgments, and expectations.
A Reminder of Who You Are: Whether you choose to whisper a wish into the fountain or take home a piece of your own, remember that no two pearls share the exact same shape or overtone. Just like a pearl, your journey is entirely your own, carrying its own distinct beauty.
A Message of Hope: If you are struggling right now, let this place remind you that you are never truly alone. There is always someone out there destined for you, waiting to stand by your side and bring out your true, radiant shine.
Our Promise: We pour our hearts into every piece we curate. We believe jewelry should be meaningful—something rare that carries emotion, memories, and its own quiet, magical story.
Thank you for supporting our journey and becoming a part of our story. This fountain remains our eternal promise that true love can endure.
